How good nutrition transformed Kevin's life
In July 2018, at 3 years old, Kevin came with his mother to one of the mobile care visits of the Mobile Program we run every 15 days in "Las Llanas," a Wichí community in the middle of the bush, in the Fortín Dragones region, 400 km from the city of Salta. After the corresponding check-ups with our team, Kevin was diagnosed with mild malnutrition (which occurs when weight is normal but height is low for age).
A few months later, thanks to the contributions of investors, sponsors and people like you who inspire us to act, we managed to open the first Center for the Prevention of Child Malnutrition and Human Promotion in Fortín Dragones: this meant that Kevin could attend this space every week, take part in the Nutrition Program and receive comprehensive, personalized treatment each week together with his mother, Clarisa.
Clarisa made the commitment to come every Thursday, and through her learning, consistency, dedication and effort, applying all the tools she received each week, she helped Kevin recover the ideal height for his age and be out of danger.
In February of the following year, he began formal schooling, so it was very important for him and his family that he be discharged from the program before that crucial moment in his life, having left behind the nutritional risk he was in. Today he is happily going to school in Las Llanas, the community where he lives, and we see him growing up healthy.
